Tomide Awe, CEO & Founder of Olori

Olori offers premium African-inspired handbags that make women feel strong, confident & secure, while empowering underprivileged girls … because real queens fix each other’s crowns. For every bag Olori sells, one month of tuition fees is paid for a young girl.

Inspired by her own experience growing up in Nigeria, Tomide Awe launched her company, Olori, in October 2017. As a child, Tomide felt incredibly privledged to be able to afford and attend school - a fate unimaginable for 17 million girls in Africa today. Since she left Nigeria, Tomide has been dedicated to finding a way to make sure that every girl would some day have the same opportunities that she did. Olori was that solution.

Traditional African prints and textiles hold a special place in Tomide's heart, as they remind her of her proud origins and tribal roots. While finishing her last year as an MBA candidate at The Wharton School, she was inspired to leverage the beauty and cultural richness of Africa as a way to solve the education problem for girls around the world. As a female business owner, Tomide feels a responsibility to create further opportunities for women and to empower them through her work.
