Fall Guide

While Los Angeles might not be known for its changing seasons, we still like to celebrate the arrival of Fall. And why not celebrate on a date with that cutie you’ve been eyeing all summer? Not sure where to go? We've rounded up our favorite date spots in LA for the Fall season. Check it out!

Where to: Eat

Sawyer

With a great happy hour, charming ambiance and creative plates, Sawyer is your ideal date spot. The menu includes some of our favorite fall dishes, including brussels sprouts with a poached egg and “candy cane beets,” served with pistachios and nutmeg ricotta. Take your date to the back romantic patio and sit next to the fireplace under the twinkly lights. Sharing is encouraged, so to try an assortment of the delicious small plates!

Forma

With the temperatures cooling down, we know you are probably in search of something hearty and warming. Head to Forma in Santa Monica for an assortment of pastas and a cozy atmosphere. Note that the menu includes an entire page dedicated to formaggio  (yes, that means cheese plates are a must). Order one of the restaurant’s specialities such as the cacio e pepe or the fettucine bolognese and watch the chef stir your pasta in a giant wheel of parmesan. Does it even matter if you’re date is a dud when there’s a cheese wheel involved in your meal?

Salt & Straw

In Los Angeles, its never too cold for an ice cream, and a cone from Salt & Straw is the best way to ease into a first date. Be sure to try samples of the seasonal fall flavors—our favorites include California Honey Rocky Road and Apples & Sidecar Donuts. With scoop shops throughout LA, you and your date can always find a location nearby.

Where to: Drink

Melrose Umbrella

The dimly lit Melrose Umbrella Co is the perfect spot for a casual night out in West Hollywood. Examine the artistic drink menu, and choose from an assortment of cleverly named cocktails (we like the “Romance Without Pressure.”) If you’re looking to spend more time with your date after a few drinks, head to Barbara Jean, the trendy new Southern restaurant behind the bar. Sit on the patio and indulge in lobster mac and cheese or a fresh baked cookie plate.

Townhouse

Looking for seasonal cocktails? Dancing? Live music? Head to Townhouse in Venice Beach. Located just steps from the popular Venice sign and boardwalk, Townhouse just celebrated its 100-year anniversary. The live music calendar includes an assortment of DJ’s, rock bands and even Hawaiian performances. Have a drink and chat upstairs before venturing to the basement to dance!

Upstairs at the Ace Hotel

A rooftop bar in Downtown Los Angeles, Upstairs at the Ace Hotel offers views of LA, inventive cocktails and a cool vibe that will definitely impress your companion. Split a pitcher of sangria, the ideal fall drink, as you gaze out at the city lights. Sometimes it gets breezy on the rooftop, so bring a sweater or cozy up to your date!

Where to: Go

Griffith Park LA

Griffith Park

During the fall, its finally cool enough to hike on the eastside of LA without melting into a puddle of sweat (which we think is not ideal for a date.) Meet at the entrance on Fern Dell Drive, and wander up the Griffith Observatory trail—bonus points if you go during sunset. Enjoy views of the Los Angeles skyline, the Santa Monica Mountains and the Hollywood Sign. If the date goes well, let the day continue and stop by the adorable Trails Café after your hike for a coffee or a pastry!

LACMA

If your date is into art, we suggest visiting the LACMA on Wilshire. Walk hand and hand through the largest art museum in California as you marvel at classics including Andy Warhol’s soup cans, Hokusai’s “The Wave” and Matisse’s flower prints. Need an icebreaker? Grab a glass of wine at the museums bar and restaurant, Ray & Stark’s Bar.

Pumpkin Patch LA

Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch

Nothing screams Fall more than a trip to the pumpkin patch. Want to get in touch with your inner child again? Visit Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch in Culver City. This Los Angeles staple has been open since 1987 and offers country farm vibes in the middle of a big city. Go on the hunt for the perfect pumpkin, get a caricature done of you and your date, stop by the petting zoo or chow down at an assortment of food trucks. Whatever you decide to do at Mr. Bones, it is sure to be a memorable date!

Willowbrook Apple Farm

Hop on the 10 Freeway and head east to Willowbrook Farm in Oak Glen. Wander through the orchard, check out the farm animals and take photos on the vintage tractors. If the date goes well, stick around and press your own apple cider or explore the farm store.
