For a hidden gem with homemade pasta…

With no signage or website, Speranza is Los Feliz’s best-kept secret. Go with a date or a group of friends and sit in the adorable courtyard. Pasta is homemade and portions are hearty but not overwhelming. Every meal starts with warm bread and a light and tasty tomato sauce. Be sure to try the fettuccine al pesto!

For Vietnamese food and a cool ambiance…

Blossom is our go-to for pho, vermicelli noodles and other Vietnamese specialties. Located across from Sunset Junction, Blossom offers a cool Silver Lake vibe. The dimly lit basement is the perfect date spot and pretty much every dish is amazing—although we recommend the pho and the spring rolls!

For pizza that will make New Yorkers jealous…

Sometimes we feel like all our New York friends are complaining about the lack of good pizza in Los Angeles. Echo Park’s Cosa Buona will prove them wrong. Highlights of the Neapolitan style pizza menu include the Biocoverde (spinach and ricotta pie), the classic Margherita and the Meatlovers. Don’t skip the antipasti, especially the broccolini and smokey mozzarella sticks (don’t worry, it evens out!)

For great coffee and food that doesn’t suck…

Finding a coffee shop with a good food menu is not always easy—but sometimes we need more than a croissant or a Danish to accompany our afternoon brew. Go Get Em’ Tiger in Los Feliz makes our coffee shop dreams come true. The outdoor patio is an ideal spot to get work done or catch up with friends, and the almond macadamia milk is made in house.  Post up here for the day and enjoy your latte with delicious plates such as avocado toast, scrambled eggs on a biscuit and a baby kale salad.

For farm-to-table food and unique flavors…

Founded by two food editors, Botanica Restaurant and Magazine makes vegetables taste incredible and look pretty. Stop by for breakfast and order the Turkish eggs or come for dinner and try the seasonal shaved butternut squash or the flavorful salmon entrée. This Silver Lake spot also functions as a market, where you can purchase fresh bread, homemade granola and the famous romanesco.

For Thai food and an extensive wine list….

Tucked away in a strip mall between Silver Lake and Echo Park, Same Same is your spot for tasty Thai food on the Eastside of LA. The stylish space also functions as a wine bar, so you can pair your pad see ew with and green curry with a glass of rose. There’s something for everyone here, as the restaurant easily accommodates both vegans and meat-eaters alike. Be sure to visit on a Wednesday for half off bottles of wine!

For an LA favorite that is always worth the wait…

Waiting in line to eat at Jessica Koslow’s Sqirl Kitchen is basically a right of passage in Los Angeles. The tiny café on North Virgil Ave in Silver Lake is known for its Instagrammable ricotta toast and pesto rice bowl. But don’t stop with these two plates—the Kabbouleh salad and vegan brown rice porridge are also worth a try. Much of the creative menu revolves around the market, meaning that there’s always a fresh and seasonal option available. And the line moves fast—we promise!
